One of the ways we aim to increase diversity is through our education initiatives. While summer programs for law students and lateral training initiatives help support individuals already in the
field (or well on their way), educational initiatives at the undergraduate or high-school level reach students who may not have a clear path into IP and allow us to educate students on the possibilities within STEAM fields.Â
Cooperative Education is a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience, commonly known as a "co-op", provides academic credit for structured job experience. Many co-op programs are five-year, academic programs designed to complement a student's formal education with paid practical work experience directly related to the student's academic major. The programs are typically available in all engineering majors at schools that offer co-op degrees and students recieve a special designation on their diploma for completing the program.

D&M’s RISE Cooperative Education and Undergraduate Internship programs are designed to introduce current students to a career in intellectual property law. We offer a unique and rich opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in IP law and explore the career path of a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney.
